If The Mirror Bends

Butterflies over bulldozers

And leveled foundations to unscripted paths

By unscripted, I mean, unintended equations with wrong numbers

you do the math

I step down in front of my mirror

as I'm reminded to check-in with myself

Taking a mental inventory of every emotion felt

but if the mirror bends...

Warmth and communication over cold guessing games

I'm the one who loves the picture in the frame

I checked my reflection and the image is still the same

I'm an avoider of restraints and finality

but with you I yearn stability

and if the mirror bends, I fear suspense

Overwhelmed by other more productive emotions

This is how to by-pass it all

If I think it then I've dealt with it

though I've never felt through the pain

So these cycles keep occurring, keep appearing

making cameos throughout life

if the mirror bends, here I stand

Here I stand without insight.
